ENEL (Italy) analyses and monitors VoIP telephony with AMIRA and LMS VoIP probes
ENEL relies on LMS VoIP probes for monitoring of VoIP traffic; these are decentralised monitoring points that continuously analyse all the VoIP traffic in the whole country and send quality-relevant data to the central AMIRA system as extended voice datasets.
The voice datasets contain information concerning connections and their quality (basic information, failed connection, wrong connections, terminations, etc.). In addition, the voice quality over VoIP connections is analysed with an speech quality evaluation procedure and stored in the central database as important quality information.
The stored data are converted to expressive reports by using a reporting tool based on Business Objects ®.
Failure of lines, faults in the IP communication and unacceptable values for speech quality are evaluated by the AMIRA Alarm Tool and trigger an alarm in real time.
