Open management system
The AMIRA Management System is an open and flexibly structured system for the management of measuring, control and alarm devices that are remotely operated via LAN or WAN.
The modular AMIRA Management fulfils the following tasks:
- Configuration management
- Alarm management (fault logging, threshold monitoring, alarming)
- Application data management (storage, up- and download)
- Application software management
The management software can run as client/server application under MS Windows or on LINUX platforms. The system and application data are centrally stored in SQL databases. All required administrative tools for user administration and control of access rights are part of the system.
Application data such as result data or alarm events are automatically uploaded to the management system or collected from this system. The uploading of the data is time or event controlled (e.g. at alarm or when the data storage facility reaches a certain filing level) or triggered by a request from a client application. Control data and commands can be sent to the remotely operated devices at any time.
Evaluation modules
Custom-made evaluation modules are available for the different applications. They include various protocol analysers, voice quality analysers and programs for the statistical evaluation of the application data. The application may either run on a full client or in a Java-based “thin client” that does not require any local installation but can be operated with a browser.

Structure of the AMIRA Management System
The application consists of a database and three sub-systems, which may run on different physical machines:
- AMIRA Communicator (Service)
- AMIRA Data Manager (Service)
- AMIRA Desktop Application (Full Client)
- AMIRA Web Clients (JAVA)
These sub-systems communicate through standard IP protocols, which make it easy to install a distributed system.
