Line Monitoring with LMS probes
After initial operation and configuration, the LMS Probe permanently monitors the connected lines. Events on the line are evaluated according to configurable parameters and alarms are sent to the AMIRA Management System.
The alarm events are logged in the AMIRA database and can be presented in reports. They can also be displayed on the AMIRA Alarm Viewer and escalated to external alarm systems.
The performance monitoring application (hardware/software) is the basis for extended applications such as traffic analysis.
Line monitoring at E1/PRI interface
The data are gathered through high-resistance scanning at the E1 interfaces. The scanned line can be looped to the device via two RJ45 plugs or may be connected to the E1 line with an up to 3 m long #. This distance can be extended to several hundred metres using an optional scanning probe.
Optionally, a connector set and probes for 75 Ohm lines with coaxial plug are available.
Performance monitoring at the BRI interface
When monitoring an ISDN BRI interface (S-bus), the probe is connected like an end device to the SO interface. The SO interface contact is established with an RL45 connector..
Alarm evaluation
The following alarm criteria are detected by the LMS probes and can trigger alarms:
Layer 1 Errors (only E1/PRI):
- HDB3 Code Violation (CV)
- Loss Of Signal (LOS)
- Alarm Indication Signal (AIS)
- Loss of Framing (LOF)
- Remote Alarm Indication (RAI)
Layer 2 Errors:
- CRC4 error / Frame Check Sequence (FCS) error
- Layer 2 SABME (Layer 2 restart)
Layer 3 Error:
